The rolling fog on the river this morning really confirmed that Autumn has arrived. Whilst we are loving the Indian summer, we are thinking ahead to the winter to come. We have a rail of wonderful winter woollies which are attracting a lot of attention.
Noa Noa chunky roll necks and Part Two capes being particular favourites of mine. I love to layer first thing in the morning then remove layers as the day warms up, and put them back on for the chilly evenings!
Layering is something we discuss a lot with our customers. Some people think there’s a great mystery to this relatively new way to dress. It’s not exactly the same a remembering to wear your vest! Showing the layers beneath is a very flattering look. A cropped sweater with narrow trousers and a long tee shirt underneath is ideal for the autumn, whether its dressing up or down.
Layering allows you to bring together different textures, fabrics and prints in a very subtle and contemporary way. Heavy woolly knits matched with silk or leather naturally enhance features and the look of each piece making them stand out. At first thought clashing fabrics actually balance the outfit, giving a light lift of the silk or leather and complementing the character – the colour or shape of the heavy fabric piece.
Masai is one of the leading makes introducing layering style and so loved by our customers. Floaty fabrics and shapes brings a way new perspective to elegance in everyday wear. Wide range of tunics and cardigans in beautifully matched colours and prints creates a unique look and comfort.
The beauty of layering is its suitability for every season. Different pieces and colours can be matched across the season depending on the weather, occasion or simply your mood. It is a great way to wear your favourite pieces in a stylish way for any weather.
Here at Katie Kerr we regularly introduce different ways of layering beautiful pieces from different brands. Hope you will find something that suits your style.
