After a great festive month, visiting friends, partying and organising activities, we would like to hibernate in cold and gloomy January. Long dark winter evenings are here to stay for quite a while…
So its a great time to find something challenging and useful to occupy your mind. The brain needs to be exercised and kept in shape, the same as the rest of your body. So why not try giving it a bit of exercise and learn something new!
Its always a great and safe idea to brush-up IT skills, learn some more words of the foreign language that you have admired so much…. or just push the boat out and try something completely different. Challenging? Yes, but that’s what makes it so exciting – pushing the boundaries and opening the windows for new perspective to your hobbies or even habits. So…Where to start?
On-line courses. If you feel that learning by your self will not last long, signing up for an on-line course is quite a good idea. So many websites are offering huge variety of greatly discounted courses, that you will definitely find something that ticks the box. Though on-line courses do not have the same quality and intensity as the classroom based ones, but the advantages of flexibility, sources of information, your own home comfort, continuous tutor support and interaction with other students on-line, will allow you to pick your own phase and interact as much as you want.
Practical courses. It might require a little more effort and a lot more time, however a greater level of intensity and commitment will bring better results and overall satisfaction. All people on your course are there for the same purpose, but different reasons. Communicating with your group consisting of different personalities, backgrounds or levels of knowledge in the area you can gain so much more than you have ever expected!
Learn from your friends. There must be someone in your circle of friends pursuing a great hobby that you have always admired but never had time to actually go for it. Ask your friend if you can tag along.. They will tell you honestly what it takes and what are the best ways to start and excel. And the best part – you always have somebody who shares the same interest and if at some point your passion and will to carry on will drop, you will have that someone to give you a “push”: so, have you reached my level yet?” All in all, a little bit of competition is always healthy 🙂
Its time to get your hands dirty 🙂
